Au Clusters Supported on Defect-Rich Ni-Ti Oxides Derived from Ultrafine Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) for CO Oxidation at Ambient Temperature

Ultrafine layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have abundant hydroxy groups at their edge sites, serving as anchor sites for metal NPs. Furthermore, transformation of ultrafine LDHs into mixed oxides (MMOs) generates oxygen vacancies, which are advantageous O2 activation during Au-catalyzed CO oxidation. We used Ni-Ti with low crystallinity or MMOs supported on SiO2 onto Au NPs were deposited by deposition–precipitation (DP) and DP–urea (DPU). The catalytic activity the catalysts was significantly affected preparation method, highest obtained depositing LDH/SiO2 DPU, followed LDH to MMO (Au/Ni-Ti MMO/SiO2 (LDH-DPU)). presence MMOs, resulting in LDH-DPU having greatest number vacancies TiO2 domain MMOs. Consequently, adsorbed lattice surface can be easily utilized oxidation temperatures. Moreover, increased water vapor concentration up 100% relative humidity room temperature, suggesting potential Au/Ni-Ti an air purification catalyst.
